A swing pair needs an arc. A slide needs a run alongside the opening. A cantilever needs neither but wants a counterbalance behind the post. Which of the three your driveway allows is a geometry question with one right answer, and it is worth settling early.

Where the driveway meets the sidewalk there is no arc for a swing leaf to travel through. That usually points at a slide or a cantilever, and it is far better to find that out at the measure than on install day.

Where the property line meets a public sidewalk, everything the gate does has to happen inside the property.

Also inside the HVHZ

Broward falls inside the same High-Velocity Hurricane Zone as Miami-Dade, so the wind rating carries across the county line unchanged. What does not carry across is the paperwork: permitting is administered locally, and the sensible order is to ask what Tamarac expects before the steel is ordered rather than after.

Straight answers

  • Drawn before it's cut
  • Shop-fabricated
  • Coastal finish
  • On-site measure
  • Slide & cantilever options
How does it hold up here?
Salt and sun are the design brief in South Florida, so material and finish are specified for the coast.
Can I see it before it's built?
Yes. It gets drawn onto a photograph of your entrance, and the changes happen there rather than in the shop.
What about the fence either side of it?
Drawn at the same time. A gate that does not agree with its fence reads as two separate purchases from the road.
Do I need pillars?
Not necessarily. Posts, piers and rendered pillars are three different structures, and the leaf and the ground decide which one is right.
