Aventura · Miami-Dade County
An operator out of the box is not a working gate. Limits, force, timers, the receiver and whatever remotes you already carry all get set on the gate itself, because that is the only place the settings mean anything.
Cycles a day is the number that picks the unit here. A high-cycle operator on a shared entry will outlive two or three residential ones.
Master-planned streets tend to have their utilities in known places, which makes power and control runs more predictable than on older lots.
Two approvals, not one
Anything structural at the property line in Miami-Dade answers to the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone standard, and that is what sets the frame and the fixings. Separately, Aventura runs a local review, and where a homeowners' association governs the street it generally runs one of its own. Neither is a thing to discover after fabrication.

- Can I keep the operator I have?
- If it is rated for the gate and still serviceable, yes. Replacing a working unit is not automatically the answer.
- What actually is a duty cycle?
- How many open-and-close cycles the unit is built to do in a day. It is the number that decides whether an operator lasts or not.
- Do I need a safety loop?
- It depends on the layout and the traffic. Where a vehicle can end up under a closing gate, detection is not an optional extra.
- Ours is a shared entry, not a driveway.
- Different machine. It gets specified on cycles a day and on who needs to get through it, not on the gate's weight alone.
