North Miami · Miami-Dade County
A community entrance has three completely different users arriving at it, and the system has to handle all three without a queue. Resident tags, a directory for guests, and a way to let a contractor in on a Tuesday without giving them permanent access.
A shared entry is a different machine from a private driveway — duty cycle, callbox, resident directory and contractor access all wanted on the same lane.
A shared entrance belongs to everybody, which makes downtime a governance problem as much as a mechanical one.
Inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone
Miami-Dade sits inside the Florida Building Code's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, the strictest wind-load regime in the state, so the rating on posts, panels and hardware is not a nice-to-have here. Permits on top of that are issued locally — by the municipality or by the county — so what North Miami wants to see on paper is worth confirming before anything is cut.

Straight answers
- Cantilever & barrier
- Loop detection
- Serviceable in place
- High-cycle operators
- Shared-entry duty cycle
- Who holds the access list?
- Your manager. Cloud-managed systems exist precisely so adding and removing residents is not a service call.
- What about emergency access?
- Fire and emergency access is part of the specification from the start, not something bolted on at the end.
- Ours is a shared entry, not a driveway.
- Different machine. It gets specified on cycles a day and on who needs to get through it, not on the gate's weight alone.
- Who is responsible for the entry?
- Usually the association rather than any one resident, which changes who we talk to and who signs the work off.
